Products: All products are made from recycled materials. Bags from recycled billboard vinyl and bike chain jewelry from recycled bike chains.
History: NOT WASTED is a program of Truly Reaching You (T.R.Y.) Ministries. T.R.Y. is a non-profit, faith-based organization committed to empowering individuals beyond incarceration, or recovering from addition. Through relationships, mentorships, training, and education, T.R.Y. provides a healthy support system for those ready to renew their life. Understanding the challenges people face in re-entry and recovery, T.R.Y. supports women by offering transitional housing, employment training, and outreach programs.
NOT WASTED is a micro-economic development program where women learn sewing and hand crafting skills to create tote bags, jewelry, and unique products from recycled materials. The sale of our products provides program funding, job skills training, and a new hope for women.
The name "NOT WASTED: means:
- We use a majority of recycled products as the raw materials for our new creations. Someone else's waste is definitely our treasure!
- Our Program participants are no longer living in addiction and destructive lifestyles, they are no longer wasted.
Sourcing: We get our materials from various sources. The used billboard vinyl is donated from clear channel outdoor in North Canton. This billboard vinyl was once used for billboard ads throughout Northeast Ohio. The bike chains are donated from Marty's Bike shop, Wheel and Wrench bike shop, and Blimps bike shop.
Methods: Our method is upcycling.
