A vendor with Countryside Farmers' Market since 2012.

Farmland: A small 5-acre farm in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park and part of the Countryside Conservancy Program.

People: Heather Walters and her husband, Eric Walters.

Products: A variety of vegetables, squash, leafy greens, hearty greens, root crops and onions.

Farm History: The farm started in 2002 on a 5-acre piece of land in Columbia Station, in Lorain County. A half-acre garden was planted with the goal of participating in farmers markets. This soon evolved to a CSA, starting with 10 members in 2013 with future plans to include around 200 families with 120 full shares.

Mission: We operate our farm in support of a simple mission... To grow food in a sustainable manner, in a way that is good for the land we grow on, the people we grow for, the community we belong to, and which can be the primary financial support of our family.

Practices: Each year we try to improve the land we grown on, using sustainable agricultural practices; such as, cover crops and IPM (Integrated Pest Management) and organic products like fish emulsion and neem oil to grow our food.

Fun Fact:  We do our best to support our community. In 2012 we donated almost two tons of produce to various local organizations including the Akron/Canton Regional Foodbank and a local Salvation Army Soup Kitchen. In addition to food donations, we offer classes in food preservation and gardening.
