Countryside is accepting applications for its 2019 Farmers’ Market seasons at Howe Meadow and Highland Square through February 27th.
Applications are also being accepted on a rolling basis for the year-round Countryside Public Market indowntown Akron’s Northside District. Countryside Public Market will be celebrating their summer kick-off on May 26th. Farmers and food producers interested in joining the market for the summer season and participating in this event should apply by May 6th.
Countryside’s markets serve a three-fold purpose: to provide farmers and food producers with a viable direct-to-consumer sales outlet, to connect consumers with the diversity and quality of locally grown andprepared foods, and to create a space for community interaction and engagement. Countryside’s marketscollectively serve over 80 local farmers, food businesses and artists. Since 2014, total vendor revenue has exceeded $1 million dollars annually.
Countryside Farmers’ Market at Howe Meadow (Cuyahoga Valley National Park, 4040 Riverview Rd. inPeninsula) will open on April 20th and will continue every Saturday, 9am to 12pm, through October 26th.Countryside Farmers’ Market at Highland Square (Will Christy Park, 1175 W Exchange St. in Akron) willopen on June 6th and will continue Thursdays, 4pm to 7pm, through August 29th; there will be no market on July 4th. Both markets feature weekly live music, seasonal market-sourced cooking demonstrations, and Countryside Kids, a popular food and agriculture-focused children’s activity series presented by Spring Garden Waldorf School.
Countryside Public Market (Northside District, 21 Furnace St. #300 in Akron) occurs every Sunday, 10am to 2pm (seasonal hours will vary). There will be no market on Easter Sunday, April 21st. Weekly live music is provided. Several special events will be held at all market locations; dates and details are being confirmed.
Countryside’s markets feature local produce, meats and more, as well as prepared products, withpreference given to those produced with locally
sourced ingredients. They are curated for quality and to balance product diversity, as well as supply and demand. Competition for available
spaces is high, thus all that apply may not be accepted.
Applications of particular interest this season are: diversified organic vegetable farms, diversified fruit farms, grass-fed and pastured meats, naturally fermented pickled products, and locally sourced value- added and prepared food.
All of Countryside’s markets accept SNAP and offer Produce Perks, a nutrition incentive that matches upto $20 of SNAP withdrawals for the purchase of fresh, locally-grown fruits and vegetables. For moreinformation on Countryside’s food access programs, visit cvcountryside.org/SNAP.

We are currently accepting applications from farmers, food producers, and other vendors who share our passion for locally-sourced, sustainable food and food products. Artists are welcome to apply but spaces are limited.
