This highly rated four-session course will take a small group of participants through the process of setting personal and farming goals, assessing available resources, and developing an action plan to guide next steps. Along the way, participants will take a close look at the realities of working for themselves and managing a successful agriculture venture. This class will feature speakers from successful farm businesses like Breakneck Acres and Breezy Hill Farm, and includes a tour of Trapp Family Farm.
Originally developed by New England Small Farm Institute, Exploring the Small Farm Dream is specially designed for anyone who has wondered what it would be like to start a small farm or other agricultural business. This may include people thinking about changing careers to start a farm, taking over an existing family farm business, farming part-time while continuing other employment, or developing an informal agricultural pastime into a more series business activity. This is not a farm business planning course, but a precursor to farm business planning, with the ultimate goal of helping participants answer the question, “Is starting an agricultural business right for me?” For more information about the course, click here.
Class dates are Wednesdays, May 6, 13, 20, & 27 at 6pm-9pm at Crown Point Ecology Center, 3220 Ira Rd, Bath.
Registration is $100 per person, or $150 for two people from the same farm business.
