I can't wait to join you at Uncorked Wine Bar to swap it up! Countryside Conservancy is excited to host monthly food swaps in the Akron area. A food swap is a gathering of DIY-ers; they bring homemade and homegrown items to share via silent auction style bidding. These events provide an opportunity to share your favorite creations with an appreciative audience and receive delicious goodies in return. Swaps last around 2 hours. 30 minutes for arrival and display, an hour for browsing and bidding, and 30 minutes for negotiating and swapping. Bring as many items as you would like to swap - preference varies. Some swappers like to have 10+ so they can say yes to everyone. Some swappers feel 5-ish is more manageable. You can bring multiples of the same item or different items - again, preference varies by swapper. Keep quantity and cost in mind. An 8 oz jar of jam or a 16 oz jar of pickles is a good reference - package your items in a way that you are comfortable trading for these items. Samples are not required, but are recommended. Your items MUST be labeled with your name, contact information (phone number or email), item name, shelf life and storage recommendation. This label need not be fancy, but it is REQUIRED. Please also bring a list of ingredients or recipe to display with your items. Uncorked Wine Bar is located at 22 N High St., in Downtown Akron. Please plan to arrive at 6 pm to display your items and hear announcements.
